We went there for the first time yesterday after being loyal Sunhing diners for over 40 years New owners of sunhing have ruined the food We loved our meal at Happy gathering Special fried rice, chicken chow mein and satay beef. It was beautiful. Service was first class from both ladies there. Certainly won us over. Will be a regular as love chinese food
Authentic and classic Cantonese restaurant vibes. We ordered prawn toast, sizzling prawn, beef and black bean, special fried rice and tofu claypot. All together $100 with leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Good size plates and very fresh and tasty. Will come back!
We had take away last night. We ordered honey prawns - great. Lemon chicken - over powered with vinegar as was the sweet and sour sauce this time. Special fried rice - way, way, Way too much salt to the point it was inedible and had to be thrown out. Not good for those with high blood pressure and or heart conditions. Never had any issues with our meals from Happy Gatherings until this order. New Chef needs to lighten the hand with salt. Generally Happy Gatherings meals are usually very tasty!
Happy Gathering is 1 of 2 Chinese restaurants in the area. We have ordered from the other one in the past but last night it was closed for renovations so we were curious to see if the grass was greener with takeaway from Happy Gathering. It wasn't. The portion sizes were smaller than our regular place and the boneless lemon chicken wasn't cooked through - pink chicken and mushy batter. Sweet and sour fish batter was undercooked inside some pieces too. Flavours were good = 2 stars. Would have given 3 if it wasn't for undercooked food.
