Established in 1836, Houghton Winery is one of the oldest operating wineries in all of Australia. Celebrating over 175 years of winemaking, Houghton boasts the titles of the 10th largest red and white bottle brand in the country and the most awarded winery in Western Australia.
Just 30 minutes from the city of Perth, Houghton can be found in a wonderful location by the Swan River and possesses verdant gardens, stately pines and beautiful, purple blossoming Jacaranda trees. For the best place to test out some lovely wines, head to the light and open cellar door. Here you can sample a large collection of wines, which consist of a strong attention to taste and an overall balance of flavour.
A museum is also set on the expansive grounds where visitors can explore the history of Houghton Winery, famous for the 1869 capture of legendary bushranger, ‘Moondyne Joe’. Antique winemaking artefacts plus works of art from the local community are also on display at the museum while dining matters are satiated with Houghton’s Café. Customers can enjoy a scrumptious choice of meals here either inside or alfresco on picnic benches or under the vines of the courtyard.
Cellar Door: 10am - 5pm daily.
Closed on: Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Good Friday.
