Just 30 minutes from Perth city centre, nestled in the beautiful Swan Valley, the Black Swan vineyard and restaurant is designed specifically for the breathtaking views, with floor to ceiling windows allowing you to absorb the panoramic scenery.
Set up by husband and wife duo in 1998 on an old vineyard site, the first vintage was completed in 2001 and won a number of gold medals. Since then, up to 90% of the wines they produce are awarded accolades and it's not surprising with the extensive choice of wines, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Shiraz, and Chenin, with more recent additions of Merlot and Chardonnay. Most of their wines have been made from vines which are almost 70 years old and it's this maturity which enhances the richness of flavours.
It is possible to book in for a wine tasting day at Black Swan, where whilst you're sipping away, the professionals tell you all you need to know about their delicious beverages. You're also able to purchase the wines online, with a great seleciton of white wines , red wines and fortified wines (port and dessert wine).
After all this alcohol, you'll be after some nourishment and luckily, the Black Swan restaurant provides delectable dishes to get your mouth watering as a perfect accompaniment to their delicious wines. They serve local Australian dishes like Wagyu beef and Kurobuta pork, as well as their free range chickens and other produce grown on site (cumquats, macadamias and mulberries).
