The Blue Room Theatre
Perth
Housed in the heart of the Perth cultural centre, The Blue Room Theatre is one of Perth’s best independent live theatre venues. The building itself is heritage listed and offers two intimate performance spaces. The Blue Room Theatre Main Space, the larger of the two, is housed in what was a science laboratory. With 62 seats available, every seat is the best in the house. Upon entrance to the studio is a spectacular floor to ceiling mural. Painted by Tom Alberts, the piece is listed as a significant artwork by the Art Gallery of Western Australia. The Blue Room Theatre Studio seats up to 50 and is a flexible performance space with basic sound and lighting.
Productions at the theatre are produced and generated by the writers, directors, managers, actors and technicians who create them. Those that are selected are given a three-week session at the venue, with sixteen new productions being shown every year.
