Reviews
We have rated this hotel at about 3 for a few reasons. Beautiful location, rooms are nice, clean, quiet etc but.... beware of the hidden costs. $35 a night for parking. No wine glass in the room? $5 glass hire!!!. Really?. Won't go back.
Had such a beautiful experience at the restaurant at Wonil Hotel Perth thanks to two incredible staff members. Their customer service was absolutely outstanding, Camilla and Fabrico especially so warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming from start to finish. They went above and beyond to make our experience special and created such a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. The food, service, and overall experience were all 5 star. Staff like these are what make people want to come back again and again. Thank you both for making our visit so memorable!
The hotel itself is nice, tidy and well presented. My room was comfortable and the bed was very good, but a number of things made the stay frustrating. For a hotel of this type, parking is surprisingly limited. The front car park appears reserved for the rowing club, so guests need to park on the adjacent paid street parking. It is fairly cheap, but still odd for a hotel with a conference space. The layout and access system were also confusing. My room was at the end of one wing, so getting in and out meant walking across most of the hotel. Some doors opened automatically, some needed a room card, and others did not open. The room card had to be held on the reader for several seconds before it worked, including in the lift. The lift system itself was confusing too. The room light switches made little sense, with no master switch near the bed. The glass water bottle was also awkward, as it could only really be refilled at the bar/restaurant, not from the room tap. Housekeeping was okay, but cups and glasses were left unwashed, the coffee area was not cleaned, and milk was not refilled. The biggest disappointment was breakfast. It was included in my rate but was one of the worst hotel breakfasts I have experienced. The welcome was blunt, proper espresso was extra, and a poached egg was also extra. The buffet looked tired: basic bread, dried pastries, messy jars of spreads, dry cold meats, wilted salad leaves and unappealing yoghurt presentation. The cooked items were also poor, the cauliflower fritter was almost black and the scrambled eggs/toast on another morning were very disappointing. Overall, nice rooms and potential, but the breakfast, service details, parking and confusing access system really let it down.
What a wonderful gem of a find! We had a wedding in Matilda Bay and found the Wonil Hotel by sheer chance. We landed up being a 500m walk to the venue … lucky us. Wonil is so unusual and has a very modern, industrial look with views over the Matilda Bay / Sean river. Beautiful walks along the river - yachts and beautiful trees. Loved the open bar / lounge area - enjoyed cocktails there. The outside area is lovely overlooking the bay. Rooms were comfortable. Only tried some bar food and a continental breakfast - but everything was very nice. The staff were wonderful and very helpful and attentive. Well done to everyone! We will be back!
