Greg James Sculpture Studio Gallery
Perth
Greg James was born in Perth and has remained as a Western Australian artist, with 25 years experience in creating life-size bronze figures. His numerous public sculptures have become famous and can be spotted all over Western Australia, with his most famous piece being the ACDC statue in Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour.
In 1993, Greg moved to his J Shed studio on Bathers Beach which has since become the Greg James Sculpture Studio Gallery. The building was originally built for storage purposes and is now a heritage listed site. Building up from the bare shed it once was, Greg has since developed a space used efficiently as a public viewing deck and studio, with a loft gallery showcasing sculptures and other arts. The gallery displays his work alongside that of other local artists and has served as a training ground for young artists over the years, as well as temporary grounds for established and international artists. Greg still uses this studio to work in, and visitors can watch him and his team create his next piece of art. The studio is also used for music productions, community art projects and theatrical productions.
