Back in 2023, when I first stayed here, I was trying to sleep when I heard a fight outside. Curious, I took a look and politely suggested that the gentleman perhaps stop trying to break into his partner’s room over drugs and stop assaulting her. He responded by threatening me with a knife, which, in fairness, was an effective way of ending the conversation. The staff back then more or less told me that this wasn’t really something to complain to them about. So, naturally, wanting to awaken my inner adventurer, I booked this place again three years later. I am pleased to report that the Metro has remained wonderfully consistent. While standing in the shower watching an enthusiastic ant colony march past my feet, I found myself reflecting on the atmosphere of the Metro. It was then I realised that the adventurous mindset here extends across species. By bedtime, the ants had joined me around my pillow, proving they, too, were fully committed to the experience. Before, the Metro didn’t provide complimentary mystery items. This time, however, I found a small bag containing what appeared to be a white crystalline substance above the fridge. To be fair to the staff, they handled that professionally when I handed it to reception. Later that evening my neighbours decided that sleep was optional. Credit where it’s due: reception responded quickly to my noise complaint. Unfortunately, the peace lasted about five minutes. In fairness, even the best hotel staff can only do so much when your neighbours have fully committed themselves to a lifestyle of adventure. At around 4 a.m., lying awake and listening to the ongoing festivities next door, I came to an important realisation. I had lost the Black Pearl once again. After exactly one night, I abandoned ship. Fortunately, The Westin is just up the road. Checking in there immediately afterwards feels less like changing hotels and more like successfully completing the Perth edition of Slumdog Millionaire. P.s. In fairness they accepted the cancellation and were understanding.

Don't judge a book by its cover! Beautiful place to stay at a reasonable price! Staff were lovely and accommodating, rooms were clean. Food was great at the restraunt! Will be back for sure!! We scored parking by the door and a room by the elevator so room access for us was so easy!
