What an absolute gem! Got off the hop on/hop off bus at stop 19, parched and a bit peckish. Even though it was pretty much closing time, we were served a beautiful chicken sandwich, great coffees and lovely puds. The staff were all so friendly and the food was fab. What a little stunner of a cafe! Oh - and our first Quokka encounter the. One snuck in 🤭 magic!
Tucked away from the frantic energy of the main settlement, Geordie’s Cafe & Art Gallery is a beloved sanctuary located at Geordie Bay Square. For those willing to make the short bicycle ride or shuttle trip up north, this licensed venue offers a distinctly laid-back, community-centric slice of "island time." The cafe successfully doubles as a local art gallery, with vibrant pieces depicting Rottnest’s landscapes adorning the interior walls. Diners can choose between sitting inside among the artwork or relaxing on the spacious courtyard deck beneath a retractable roof. Geordie’s serves up a varied menu that spans from excellent Five Senses coffee, fresh cold-pressed juices, and hearty smash burgers to local seafood specials like crayfish sliders. They also boast a fantastic selection of home-baked treats, including fresh New York-style cheesecakes. While island premiums mean prices are on the higher side, the quality of the food and the exceptionally friendly, counter-service hospitality make it well worth the spend. Free from the heavy tourist crowds of Thomson Bay, and with the occasional quokka wandering by, Geordie's provides a genuinely relaxed, authentic, and satisfying dining experience.
Nestled between Geordie & Longreach Bays, the cafe is well situated to serve tourists staying in this area. It doesn’t have splendid sea views but does offer a relaxed, family friendly vibe alongside a children’s playground. Service was inefficient, we waited 15 minutes for drinks and 45 minutes for food on a weeknight. When the food eventually arrived, it was nicely cooked and portion size was good. Staff were friendly, although rather too relaxed.
The team and food at Geordie Bay Café are absolutely top-notch. I’ve been using Geordie Bay as my go-to lunch stop during Laura the Explorer Cycling Tours on Rottnest Island for the past 18 months, and it never disappoints. Lunch is always beautifully prepared and perfectly timed, and every single guest rates it 5/5. The wraps, quiches and sandwiches are fresh, tasty and consistently excellent and the brownies are honestly the best brownies you’ll ever try. The drinks are amazing too and if you don’t believe me, you can ask Katy Perry, who raved about the fresh juices when I brought her to Geordie Bay Café during her visit to Rottnest. A huge thanks to Sam, Andy and the team for always being so friendly, organised and reliable. Supporting Geordie Bay also means supporting a fantastic local business on Rottnest Island. Appreciate you all! Cheers, Laura Laura the Explorer – Rottnest Cycling Tours
Popped in today for lunch and was pleasantly surprised! Food was nice and plentiful. Prices were not too expensive. Plus quakkas around the table was just the icing on the cake!
