What a wonderful experience. We visited to celebrate a few things and we're not disappointed. Perfect service with knowledgeable and friendly staff. Delicious food. Amazing flavours and ingredients. The pork belly crisp and juicy, fish - fresh and flavourful. The dick WA a perfectly cooked. The wine list is huge but it makes sense. The wine we chose was absolutely delightful. We'll be back! What a great restaurant.
Looking for a unique, intimate dining experience? Balthazar delivers beautifully presented food, generous portions and an atmosphere that feels perfect for date night. While there were some inconsistencies throughout the evening, the team's outstanding service recovery ensured we left genuinely impressed. Highlights... The three-course menu exceeded expectations. Every dish arrived hot, beautifully presented and packed with flavour, with portion sizes far more generous than anticipated. The thoughtful birthday recognition for two members of our group was another lovely touch that made the evening feel special. Good to Know.... Balthazar is best suited to couples or smaller groups. The restaurant embraces an intimate layout, meaning tables are close together and neighbouring conversations become part of the atmosphere. Larger groups may find it difficult to comfortably converse across the table. Areas for Improvement.... The biggest opportunity lies with service consistency. Although we were introduced to one waiter, we were looked after by several different staff members throughout the evening. Drink service was noticeably slow and, on multiple occasions, we needed to attract someone's attention to place another order. Our table of five also felt cramped, particularly once the neighbouring table increased in size. Service Recovery.... During our entrée we identified a minor issue with one of the dishes. It didn't prevent us from enjoying the meal, but I mentioned it discreetly after we had finished. The response from the team was exceptional. They apologised sincerely, offered to replace the dish, surprised us with complimentary beverages, provided an additional side with our mains and acknowledged the inconvenience again when we settled the bill. None of this was expected. What impressed us most wasn't that an issue occurred, but how professionally and genuinely the team handled it. They made us feel heard, valued and determined to return. Would I Recommend It?.... Absolutely. If you're looking for exceptional food in an intimate setting, Balthazar is well worth experiencing. I'd confidently recommend it for couples or smaller groups and look forward to returning.
One of the best French dining experiences we’ve had in Perth. The duck parfait was outstanding, especially with the charcoal toast, red wine prunes and pickled cucumber. The bluefin tuna was fresh and perfectly seasoned. Both the duck breast and beef fillet were cooked beautifully, showing excellent technique and attention to detail. We were actually so full from the bread, oysters and entrées that we struggled to finish dessert, but the chocolate cake was still too good to leave behind! Special thanks to the staff for kindly allowing us to change one of our dessert choices. A warm atmosphere, excellent service and food prepared with real finesse. Highly recommended for a special occasion.
Wonderful dinner at Balthazar - you must book to get a spot, even for 2 people. Staff were good, food was exceptional and extensive drinks menu. The atmosphere may not be to everyone's taste, dim lighting, quite loud with chatter and tables are in close proximity to each other. The main event though is the food, which I would highly recommend. The Broccolini was a stand out surprise as a side dish, with its grated parmesan topping and smoky flavour. Crispiest duck fat potatoes we have ever had. Also can't go wrong with fresh baked bread and house made salted butter either. Both mains were great, the duck breast was cooked medium well per my request and my partner said his Snapper and his entree of Raw Salmon were bursting with zesty flavours. Two people can easily sharing the Crullers donuts. Highly recommend and worth the $$$'s for a special night out.
We celebrated my partner’s early birthday last night and really enjoyed the food and the vibe. The service was fantastic! Our favourites were the wagyu steak and the duck fat potatoes!! so good!! The duck I ordered was slightly undercooked, but overall it was still a great experience. We’ll definitely be back to try more dishes.
