We celebrated my dad's birthday here, and it was such a wonderful experience. The cocktails were fantastic, the food was absolutely amazing, and every dish was beautifully presented. What really made the evening special was the outstanding service—everyone was so friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. A lovely surprise at the end was the adorable Happy Birthday brownie the restaurant brought out for my dad. It was such a thoughtful touch and made the celebration even more special. Thank you for helping make my dad's birthday so memorable. We can't wait to come back!
Lovely spot, good food and good service. We went there for weekend lunch for my birthday. View is amazing, food was good, and staff were friendly. The table next to us were a family of four who decided to do a video call on speaker with their mother which went on for around 10-15 minutes! It was quite loud and unpleasant specially in a restaurant like this, some people are inconsiderate. My suggestion would be for the future, for staff to politely ask those people to take the call outside the dining area so other tables can enjoy their meal in peace and quiet and not have to listen to other people’s loud video calls. 🙂
We dined at Matilda Bay a few weeks ago and overall had a very enjoyable experience. First of all, a special mention to Lem-Lem, who looked after us throughout the evening. She was warm, attentive, honest, and genuinely welcoming. Great service can make all the difference, and she certainly contributed to making our visit memorable! ❤️ The wine list is outstanding(!!), offering an impressive selection, and the cocktails were excellent. The salted caramel cocktail was particularly delicious. We also really enjoyed the cheese selection, which was a lovely way to finish the meal. As someone who has worked in hospitality for many years, I'd like to offer a small piece of constructive feedback. We ordered the seafood platter, one of the signature dishes, and while the quality of the seafood was very good (the octopus was cooked perfectly, yummy), the presentation felt a little bare. For a dish at this price point (around $120 if I'm not wrong), it would have been nice to see a few accompaniments such as a dressing, a drizzle of quality olive oil, or a sauce to complement the lobster and seafood. The desserts were pleasant, although they didn't quite stand out compared to the rest of the experience. That said, these are only minor observations. Overall, we had a lovely evening with great food, excellent drinks, and outstanding service (thank you so much Lem Lem!). We would happily return back! - avoiding the risotto next time.
Dinner with my partner for the first time here, parking was confusing but we worked out in the end - it's two left turns from the main road! We arrived to find nobody at front of house and had an awkward wait as we stood at the front of the restaurant. Once seated, we ordered some pasta, the octopus etc and the service at the table was fantastic, really good. The food was alright, the seafood was great, my pasta dish a little flavourless and the pasta a little under cooked. Payment is at front of house again, bit strange for a high end restaurant. You have your relaxing meal then you end up having to wait to leave, and wait we did. An empty till receipt created quite a delay and once it was my turn to pay, getting acknowledged was not possible. Bit of a sour experience on departure.
We had our wedding at Matilda Bay (Catalina room) and everything was absolutely amazing. The space they created for us was stunning, thoughtful and welcoming, with an atmosphere that made the whole day feel magical. The food was fantastic, and so many of our guests commented on how amazing everything was. All the staff were warm, attentive, and lovely, nothing was ever too much trouble. Sianne, the function coordinator guided us through the entire process with a calm, reassuring presence. She took care of every detail, answered every question along the way, and made the whole experience feel easy and completely stress‑free. Sianne provided recommendations for vendors, and every single one we booked was completely amazing (photographer: Kirsty Lottering, florist: Wildwood floral, cake: Sieve and Stone, furniture hire: Heart Stings). It made the whole experience so much easier, and we felt confident from the very beginning that we were in the best hands. All of our vendors worked seamlessly together to create the most magical day. We’re so grateful to the whole Matilda Bay team for creating such an incredible and memorable celebration. Everything came together more beautifully than we could have hoped for, and we couldn’t be happier. If you are looking for a wedding venue, Matilda Bay is the absolute best - we cannot recommend them anymore!
