Description

Set off on a hike and stop to take in the biggest dam mural in the world at Wellington Dam. Painted by world-renowned artist Guido Van Helten, this 8000 square meter statement piece, titled Reflections, was created from photographs and stories from the local area. Leaving the Wellington Dam, enjoy the tranquil sounds of the water cascading down the rocks and the delightful scents of the forest as you hike the Jabitj Trail for 7 kilometers. As you make your way to Honeymoon Pool, admire the rolling hills and glorious vistas with granite outcrops aplenty. Stop for a break mid-hike to enjoy a delicious and nutritious morning tea. After working up an appetite on the hike, head to the Harris River Estate Winery for a delicious platter of local products such as cured meats, cheese, chorizo croquettes, meatballs, Turkish bread, and dips. To accompany your grazing experience, enjoy a gin paddle. The lush Jarrah forest, tranquil cascades, the stunning dam mural, and beautiful valley vistas are just some of the features of the hike. Terrain: Moderate. The terrain is undulating with some short steep hills. Majority of the route is quite gentle though and achievable with most who can cover a distance of 7kms. Accessibility: Suitable for people living with a cognitive disability/autism, and low hearing.
