The Great Southern Hotel Perth
Perth
Reseñas
I return to Perth every year or two and usually stay different hotels, from budget to luxe. This trip was for a funeral, and I prioritized affordability. I was glum; the staff were warm, friendly and helpful. The location is excellent - right in the buzz of Northbridge with great bars, restaurants and easy walking to the CBD. Perth is a great walking city with excellent public transport. There's no need for cabs. Inside the room ... I expected a tiny twin - and found a spacious double room that felt more like a studio, with microwave, refrigerator, tea and coffee facilities, enormous bathroom and modern stylish furniture and fittings. In the past I have spent more money for less comfortable rooms in inconvenient locations. What surprises me is that this is so centrally located yet the room is silent. I'm very happy to have discovered the Great Southern Hotel - it's clearly better than the places I have stayed at in the past - and less expensive.
We stayed here at the end of June 2026. This is a budget hotel located within the Central Business District (CBD). The rooms themselves were clean and tidy and fit for purpose. The one major concern is that the rooms have very heavy doors that make a lot of noise when closing. This is not good when people are coming back late at night or leaving early in the morning and you're trying to sleep. The other point is that the walls between the rooms are not thick enough to block out noise from adjacent rooms. We had people in the room next to us who kept talking and coming and going from their room until after 1 am. We could hear almost everything. The reception area is very well laid out and the staff are very pleasant. We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and this was fine, and the price was reasonable. We used the launderette but this was a bit of a chore as other people were using the two washing machines and dryers at the same time meaning we had to keep going back down to see if they were available. Location wise, you could walk to the main Perth train station in about 15 minutes. The road the hotel is located on is a one-way street and fairly quiet. The road at the end of this is full of Oriental shops, restaurants and other such outlets. Except for the noise issues from adjacent rooms this hotel was fit for breakfast.
one of the best hotels in Perth, especially for asian travellers. perfectly located near the city centre, with plenty of restaurants/cafes/asian supermarkets nearby. CAT free bus stops are just around the corner, and Perth Train Station is only a 5 minute walk away. stroller friendly pathways very convenient for families. the room is spacious and well equipped, with thoughtful extras like an iron and ironing board (not always provided in many hotels). a big plus-it even has a qiblat direction for Muslim guests and guest also provided with before check in and after checkout luggage storage with no charge. truly a comfortable and convenient stay. will definitely stay here again if I come to Perth
The Great Southern Hotel is the hidden gem in East Perth having just spent 4 nights there. The Great Southern Hotel is everything that you look for in great holiday accommodation. The booking process was seamless with the option to select a variety of rooms, buy now, pay later with the option to cancel up to a certain time, on-site parking for $20 per day. I can't speakly highly enough of the reception staff who demonstrated excellent customer service, nothing was too much to ask of them and I found them always willing to go the extra mile. There's also an on-site restaurant called Restaurant 1903 which offers a great variety dining options from continental or buffet breakfast for between $10 -$18, and dinner from $20.00. The staff at 1903 are very friendly and provide excellent customer service. Overall, the staff from The Great Southern Hotel and 1903 Restaurant went above and beyond to make our stay one to remember!
