Light Years delivers a stylish, well-executed contemporary dining experience suited for corporate lunches and professional gatherings, though its culinary identity—pitched as a Chinese-Korean fine dining fusion—feels conceptually detached from authentic regional traditions while maintaining high ingredient standards and polished service. The interior and overall environment make a strong first impression. Sleek decor, comfortable seating, and balanced acoustics create an atmosphere that feels sophisticated without being stiff. The professional yet relaxed vibe makes it especially well-suited for corporate dining, client entertainment, or team milestone lunches. From the menu, the restaurant positions itself around a Chinese and Korean fusion fine-dining concept, but the thematic direction feels somewhat confused. As the name playfully suggests, the cooking is "light years" away from traditional, authentic roots; purists seeking regionally anchored profiles will find the cross-cultural pairings unconventional. Despite the conceptual ambiguity, the execution avoids falling flat—the dishes cannot be characterized as bad, landing instead as an inventive, modern interpretation designed for broad appeal. The lunch time multi-course progression moves at a steady, deliberate pace appropriate for business midday dining. Freshness of the primary ingredients is evident across both seafood and meat preparations, reflecting careful sourcing and kitchen discipline. Flavor balance across courses tends toward clean and contemporary rather than bold, pungent, or deeply fermented profiles common in traditional Korean or Chinese culinary arts. Front-of-house staff provided decent, attentive hospitality throughout the meal. Course timing was handled smoothly without lengthy gaps between plates, keeping the multi-course format manageable within a business lunch window. Prices sit firmly at the higher end of the spectrum, as expected for a multi-course tasting format in an upscale setting. While the price-to-authenticity ratio may raise questions for purists, the venue delivers reliable value when evaluated as a high-end corporate dining destination.

Such a cute little spot! The interior at Lightyears Perth is so lovely, and the food was absolutely delicious. The staff were great at explaining each dish and what was in everything, which was especially helpful. Such a great option for vegans, vegetarians and coeliacs, with plenty of delicious choices. And the prices were really reasonable too! Definitely worth checking out.

Great atmosphere with a really cool vibe. The interior is stylish and unique, with funky décor, comfortable sofas and lighting that creates a great buzz. The food lived up to the atmosphere, and we especially loved the pork belly. Service was perfectly fine, although nothing particularly memorable. We were also encouraged to order the corn ribs, which felt like a slightly random upsell. Overall, it's a great spot for a night out with delicious food and a lively atmosphere. We'd happily return.

Our first time dining in for our first wedding anniversary and we had the Banquet option with the Wagyu Striploin add-on, half a dozen oysters, drinks and dessert. Banquet Premium (99 per person) -Smashed Cucumbers - was decent but nothing to write home about. -Steak Tartare - the highlight of the night, really delicious. The meat and sauce is well balanced and the crackers give it a nice crisp. -Prawn and Ginger Dumpling - again was decent, goes well with the vinegar but doesnt have a big impact. Having 1 piece per person is disappointing. -Fish Bao Buns - This one was really good. Tasted fresh and seasoned well. The tartare gives it a nice kick with the zucchini and buns -pickled papaya and herb salad - im not a big fan of mint personally so didnt really enjoy this one. Other people might like it. -i dont know what this dish is called but this is also decent. -Wagyu striploins - steak was cooked medium rare and on point. The steak was tender and savory and sauce is delightful. -Mango and coconut sago ($16) - the coconut sago had the right amount of sweetness but the mango didnt have the mango flavor i was expecting -oysters ($7/piece) - fresh and delightful but quite expensive. We love oysters so bit the bullet. Total spend $330. Overall it was a good experience but honestly I dont think that it is good enough to justify the price.

We had a wonderful dinner at Light Years last night! Clara was our server and she was so friendly and helpful with suggestions for ordering. We ended up getting the ‘feed me’ menu for our table of 4 and it was a perfect amount of food, with every dish delicious and beautifully presented. At the end of the set menu we were offered sake, which was such a fun touch and the dessert was absolutely worth it. Light Years has such a cosy, comfortable setup. The interior is beautiful and the staff were all so kind. It was a really enjoyable night out. We left full and happy. I also noticed they have the option for bar seating for people dining in pairs or alone, which is not something I see often in Perth. I love the idea of being able to come here to eat even without a group of people and not feel like you’re dining completely alone.
